Why Red Baron?
German aviation ace Manfred von Richthofen was associated with Świdnica from an early age.
During the First World War he was made famous by his numerous victories in aerial battles. The Red Fokker became his trademark.
He was distinguished by his extraordinary cleverness and tactics. Until now, he is widely regarded as one of the best pilots, also appreciated by the French and the British, who admired him for his superb airmanship and gentlemanly approach to aerial skirmishes.
